Eagles Shut Out Keswick Christian, 21–0

Indian Rocks Christian delivered a complete team performance Friday night, defeating Keswick Christian 21–0 at the Eagles Nest. The victory was the Eagles’ first of the season and handed the previously unbeaten Crusaders their first loss.

The Eagles struck first in the opening quarter when quarterback Landon Strandberg connected with Miles on an 18-yard touchdown pass. Miles used a double move to create separation before Strandberg found him for the game’s opening score.

Special teams quickly helped the Eagles regain possession with a successful pooch kick. After two powerful carries by Armone Mansfield moved the offense toward the goal line, Strandberg finished the drive with a quarterback sneak for the touchdown.

Indian Rocks Christian carried its momentum into the second half, when the defense produced the game’s most memorable play. In the third quarter, senior Noah Mortellite made an over-the-head interception before racing 60 yards for a touchdown to extend the Eagles’ lead to 21–0.

The defense preserved the shutout from there, keeping Keswick off the scoreboard for all four quarters. The Eagles also controlled the game on the ground, finishing with 134 rushing yards and adding 58 yards through the air for 192 total yards of offense, according to the [MaxPreps box score].

The win moves Indian Rocks Christian to 1–4 on the season and gives the Eagles momentum entering the next portion of their schedule. IRCS will return to the Eagles Nest on Friday, September 25, to host North Florida Christian.
